Your own Travel Subdomain.

Kettik provides a custom sub-domain (e.g abc.kettik.com) to each of its users. Be sure to grab the good ones before they are gone.

Once you have your subdomain you can customize it by uploading a new header logo for your site and also choose your desired home page layout. We offer 3 layouts: a blog scroll layout (sample), a photo centric layout (sample) and a content rich layout (sample). Choose the one best suited to your tastes.

You can promote your Facebook fan page and Twitter account by integrating them directly into your blog. Advanced bloggers can even use their own custom Disqus commenting system to manage their blogs and monitor the traffic to their blog by using our integrated web analytics feature. All for free.

Discoverable by Destination or by Channel

All content created on Kettik is indexed and organized by location. Our readers can quickly jump to their desired location by navigating the dropdown menu in the site header. Each destination has its own landing page containing links to the stories and photos associated with that location.

Your personal kettik subdomain is similarly organized by the locations associated with your posts. Channels offer another great way for people to discover content based on their area of interest. Each area of interest (e.g cycling, hiking, culture & history etc) has its own Channel and content creators can attach their posts with one or more channels. E.g if you are interested about Cycling in Ladakh you can just go to the Cycling channel page in Ladakh or if you want to see all the cycling articles in India you can just go the Cycling channel page in India and it will contain cycling related posts from Ladakh and everywhere else in India.

Just because Kettik follows a minimalistic design doesn't mean that it is lacking in features. Kettik offers a whole suite of features designed to allow you to create engaging content for your readers.

• Stories: Your personal travel experiences and stories.
• Guides: Share your travel knowledge with the world.
• Journals: Collect all your stories from a particular trip into a Journal. Create as many journals as you like.
• Photo Albums: Any post can be turned into a beautiful photo album by adding photos to it.
• Sections: Bored of writing long single dimensioned articles ? You can now split an article into multiple sections and add photos, videos and maps to each section. Mix and match as you wish.
• Create Dynamic 'Best of' lists: Using the power of sections you can now create either static or dynamic lists. Simply allow your sections to be Ratable and your readers can vote whether they like/dislike each section and your list will be ordered dynamically based on the received votes. How cool is that!
• Flexible Maps: Many ways to map your travels. Place each story on a map and your Trip Journal automatically creates a navigable map of all the locations you've been to. Want to show detailed maps in a single article ? Create multiple sections inside the article and attach them to different map locations. Your article will now consolidate all the locations and show them in a single map. Need to show even more details on the map ?, simply create a map with google maps and embed it into your post.

Kettik is social from the start. Kettik allows you to keep track of your favorite authors and journals (incase you are interested only in a particular topic) by subscribing to their posts. You'll then receive notifications whenever a new post is added by your favorite source.



You can also give 'stars' to your favorite posts to show your appreciation to its authors. In the future we will add more social features as our community grows.

Review Sights, Activities, Hotels, Books and Restaurants.

Share your knowledge with other users by writing reviews. Visited a new place or participated in a cool activity ? Share your experience by creating a Sight (help me come up with a better name for this) review. Read a cool new book ? write a book review for it. Review the hotels you stayed in or the places you ate at. Review anything that you feel will help other travelers make informed choices.

You can also rate reviews based on whether you found them useful or not. This helps the community at large by keeping the most useful reviews at the top.

Open Source. Safe and Secure in the Cloud.

This site was built entirely from scratch by using open source tools such as Ruby on Rails and jQuery. We owe a lot to the open source community for their support and hope to contribute back to the community someday. We use Linode, a simple efficient Linux based hosting service, to host our site. And the Amazon S3 cloud storage service is used to store and backup all the user content. This ensures that all your content is safely stored in Amazon's redundant cloud infrastructure and scale easily as our user base increases.

And finally a personal note from me, the creator of this site.

I created Kettik purely out of a personal desire to have the best platform to showcase my travel content and create ample opportunities earn from it. As the site took shape i realized the value of opening it up to other users. Not only does it provide them with the same opportunities to showcase and earn from their content, it also enables us to create a rich collective travel information portal which will be of immense value to our readers and as a result drive in more traffic to the site and earn more income to its contributors. Its a win win situation for all.

It is THE dream of every traveler to quit their day job and make a living doing what they love the most. And i hope that Kettik would one day enable me and others like me to realize that dream.
